IF-sea and 100th post

Hey out there in internetlandia. I know, I've been neglectful of my blog, but this is my 100th post...quite honestly, I'm stunned I stuck with it that long.

I have not been neglectful about posting stuff, I've just been sucked into twitter. You
can come follow me there if you want....I'm @jennharknee

I'll keep on's to another 100. (yeah, I probably should have done a new piece for my 100th post, but this is kind of classic me reusing stuff whenever I can. <grin>)

I love it when I can get two for one.

I just started working on the prompts for #Daily_Doodle over on the Twitter. (I will call it "the Twitter" until I am better at hashtags and the whatnot...right now, I'm the mean old lady who can't quite figure it out so I hate it. <grin>)

The first one I did was #mypetsloth

So, YAY! It works for slow too!

neglected-indecisive UPDATE

I forgot. I hate blue. Except for hippos. <grin>

Yeah, I've fiddled with the image some more. I am the single most indecisive person when it comes to spending my money and my own work. ARRRGGGH.

I have been sadly neglecting my happy little blog. A couple of projects and a month has flown by.

But, I think I've finally settled on a promo image. It's only taken many options and a lot of ick. YAY!

And this is how I am feeling about trying to make a promo piece I like. <ugh!> (and Nellie Olsen is awesome.)

coup d'├ętat

Yeah, sorry about all the Fletcher...he's taking over. Still have to flesh out the story...but having fun with the character designs and color studies.

goofing off-day 2

Took a break from what I was supposed to be working on...had to finish this one up. <grin>

Goofing off.

Tired of doing real work....these are the droids I'm looking for. Need another day to goof off to color them.

Fletcher tweeks

Because I'm never done. <sigh> I needed to take a few days of not looking at these to realize that I had over done them....went too far into heavy light sources, color knockout lines, and adding in white highlights. Basically....too much.

Thank god for photoshop and layers. I pulled back on the light sources, went to single color linework and dropped out the majority of the highlights. I like them better now. (I know nobody but me notices, but I notice. <grin>)

Holy crap it's difficult to keep things simple.

tweeked final (above one felt a little heavy handed on the white and the knockout lines...I do A LOT of tweeking.)

Fletcher color final

Lots of tweeks later....think I'm happy with it. I want to own his lamp and wallpaper.

Haven't had an actual idea for a story for a couple of years...a few weeks without work and a week of playing with Sketch Dailies and this little guy popped up. Still working out the kinks, but I'm kind of loving Fletcher. (putting the sketches here, so I don't lose them on my overcrowded desktop).

Peter Pan has never been my favourite. He's a creepy asshole stalker who kidnaps children....I guess I missed out on the he's magic and that makes felony crimes OK. Ask me about my thoughts on "The Cat in the Hat" sometime. <grin>

But, Peter Pan it is for Sketch Dailies, and I'm trying to keep up....but, I like Captain Hook much better.

#HitGirl and #DrWho

A twofer today.

The Eleventh Doctor...

...even though I have a super fangirl crush on Peter Capaldi, but he's really hard to draw. Those attack eyebrows are brutal. <grin>

And Hit Girl...skipping rope....I really just wanted to draw her skipping rope. <grin>

So much fun for something that is not my normal thing...think I'm going to like Sketch Dailies.

Sketch Dailies.....I LOVE Quentin Blake and these two have always been a favourite.

Hope I can get to color on this...I'll update if I do.

So, going to try the Sketch Dailies.....chances are I'm always going to be a day late and an dollar short, but here's to trying. <grin> First one.

I love a parade.

Well, I love being finished with a parade for sure. Final-finally.

I've put off finishing this one for so long, that the original post is buried on my reposting the progress on this piece.

Inked the main part. Just not sold on it. Don't think I'll go much further with this one. (I lied...had to finish it...once I removed the little horse, it started to work better)

This piece, I'm not in love's just not what I wanted it to be, but I'm not sure what's off. Just frustrated with it. I would normally just toss this in the trash, but I'm putting it here to remind me that sometimes it's about the process and not the final product. (a friend of mine reminded me of that last night when I was ranting about a wasted work day). I tend to focus on the finish line, when sometimes I need to enjoy running the race.

I wanted to see if I could take a piece from concept to finish, with full background and not skimping on characters in one work day. I wanted to see how much I could streamline my work process....cutting back on a couple of steps. I think I may have skipped one too many....don't think I can go straight from a rough sketch to final...for me, a tightening up sketch needs to happen. This is how far I got. I doubt I will end up finishing it, but I'm taking some lessons from the piece, so that has to count for something.
