This piece, I'm not in love's just not what I wanted it to be, but I'm not sure what's off. Just frustrated with it. I would normally just toss this in the trash, but I'm putting it here to remind me that sometimes it's about the process and not the final product. (a friend of mine reminded me of that last night when I was ranting about a wasted work day). I tend to focus on the finish line, when sometimes I need to enjoy running the race.

I wanted to see if I could take a piece from concept to finish, with full background and not skimping on characters in one work day. I wanted to see how much I could streamline my work process....cutting back on a couple of steps. I think I may have skipped one too many....don't think I can go straight from a rough sketch to final...for me, a tightening up sketch needs to happen. This is how far I got. I doubt I will end up finishing it, but I'm taking some lessons from the piece, so that has to count for something.

My beard got out of control and unruly.

A little under the weather and, right now, this piece seems overwhelming and daunting to finish.

Inked the main part. Just not sold on it. Don't think I'll go much further with this one.

sketch (starting to tighten up the sketches digitally....oh tablet, how I love you so!)

final (actually.....reinked the whole thing in Photoshop....playing with new brushes)

Color final 2 (electric boogaloo) I think I like it better without the darker shadows....cleaner, less muddied final.
